We spent Friday and Saturday in Crystal Lake Illinois with another one of our great couples. Bryan and Sandie Wines. We had so much fun the couples was a blast. The wedding was at the Holiday Inn out in the foyer and then the reception was in one of their huge banquet halls. Good Food, Good Music and a great couple make for an awesome weekend. Mr. & Mrs. Mathias Cico

Saturday was spent with another one of our great fun couples. It was Julie and Mathias's big day in Chicago. They had their ceremony and service in a small banquet room in a restaurant, very close quarters but that made it all that much more fun. Both families were so happy for the couple and we all had a lot of fun. The flower girls and the ring bearer were some of the cutest kids I have ever seen, the flower girls had the most beatuiful red hair and looked so angelic in their dresses. It was one great party and we are very thankful that Julie and Mathias let us be a part of their big day. Here are a few of the great pictures from that day.

Jessica & Alex/Purdue University and gas at $2.65

Saturday was spent down on the campus of Purdue University with another one of our great couples, Jessica and Alex who are getting married next July. Neither of us had ever been to Purdue so it was exciting to see a new place as well as do the engagement pictures for Jessica and Alex. They were a lot of fun, they are a very handsome/beautiful couple and a LOT of fun. Again we had another couple that climbed a tree...thankfully this time no broken bones HA HA! I think maybe we need to take out tree climbers insurance :-) On the way back home from West Lafayette I saw a sign on I65 that almost made me cry, we found gas for 2.65!!!!!!! it's pretty sad when 2.65 makes you cry when I can remember 87cents for a gallon of gas..

Here are a few pictures from their shoot on campus there were WAY to many great pictures to choose from.....

FALL IS HERE!!!!

I don't know about everyone else but I LOVE when the weather finally starts to make the turn to fall. There is nothing like fall in northern Indiana. I love the cool days and evenings. There is nothing better in my opinion then a nice heavy warm sweater and wool socks. The trees are finally starting to turn after a few cold nights and they are about to explode with color. Here is a picture taken a few years back on the campus of Notre Dame.

This weekend we are heading down to Purdue to do an engagement session and I can't wait to see all of the trees on campus, hopefully they have turned as well. Fall colors make such beautiful backgrounds in pictures, the only thing better in my opinion is possibly a fresh brand new white snow fall.

HAPPY FALL EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

Happy early Halloween

After our Amish hunting experience I decided it was time to decorate our 2 pumpkins that we bought out on our adventure.

Those of you that know me, know that I LOVE kitties and of course my pumpkins have to be kitties.

Amish Hunting ...

What can I say I am obsessed with the Amish Culture. The thought of living like that fascinates me, until I remember I would have to give up my computer and blackberry not sure that is possible...HA HA

Any ways last Saturday we went what I call Amish Hunting, which basically means driving all of the back roads all over Wakarusa and Nappanee trying to find that perfect picture taking opportunity.
Here are a couple that we took that day...

Centennial Park Plymouth - Legac Family

A couple of weekends ago we visited a new park in Plymouth to take some family portraits of the Legac Family. Centennial Park in Plymouth is a huge park with a lot of fields for playing baseball, basketball and just about every other sport. We meet the Legac family and Karma, their boxer puppy on Sunday to do some family portraits. The 4 boys were a lot of fun as was Karma, poor mom really has her hands full with 4 boys.. HA HA It was great to meet a new family and to be able to capture some moments that will never happen again. The boys had fun playing in the river as we all watched. Here are a few pictures from that day.

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day!!!!!

I hope everyone had a great Labor Day and had fun on this three day weekend. We decided yesterday to take a little road trip to Four Winds Casino and Resort, to check out the casino and then the little town of New Buffalo. The casino was fun as always 80 dollars and 15 minutes later we had spent our limit...lol So we drove on into New Buffalo, and looked at some of the million dollar condo's on the beach and visited a few of the stores on the main road. On the way home we decided to stop at The Hesston Steam Museum, a fun place to visit if you have never been there before. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I have posted a few of the pictures that we took on Sunday hope you enjoy.

Megan & Steven ... does anyone know the number to 911

We spent last Sunday with yet another great fun couple. This time it was Megan and Steven from Mishawaka. We all met at the Japanese Garden in Mishawaka. The day was perfect, a bit warm, but a perfect day. Megan and Steven were a lot of fun and not afraid to try anything different or fun. At one point we were working our way around the park and the next thing you know they are climbing a tree like a couple of little kids, and wouldn't you know that is one of my favorite pictures of the day. The running joke of the day was what can we do to make the picture more fun and exciting, there was a few references to an ambulance with lights and sirens an how that would make for a fun and different picture. We almost got our wish, as Megan and Steven were swinging on the swings in the park wouldn't you know Steven would accidentally let go of Megan and she fell out of the swing and hit the ground pretty hard, we thought we may just get our ambulance shots after all... Thankfully she just injured her finger.........Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from the day. *****update***** we just found out it was a little more then just a minor finger injury, poor Megan actually broke her finger!!! This is a day she will never forget for 2 reasons now!

Engagement Weekend in Chicago

We just returned from a great weekend in Chicago with 2 great and super fun couples. We all had a great time walking all over Chicago looking for just the best places to take pictures. Our first couple Julie and Mathias didn't have a great day weather wise but we worked it out, staying close to our hotel just in case Mother Nature didn't want to cooperate. Our second couple Sandie and Bryan we met on Sunday and couldn't of had a better day for pictures. The sun was shining the sky was beautiful and it wasn't super hot. Check out a few of our fav's from this weekend....

Off to Chicago.....and a new toy

Haven't updated in a while so I thought I would post a little note before we head off to Chicago later today. I have decided that you can never find the perfect camera bag. We have been on that journey for over a year now and purchased I can't tell you how many countlessbags. Either it's to big, to small, doesn't hold everything or holds everything with room for three times as much. It's a lot like the perfect purse a never ending battle...lol

Got a new toy last weekend, finally decided we had better get a PDA phone to help keep everything organized. Still haven't figured it out but we are getting there. The problem is there are to many fun things on it to play with and you forget your supposed to be working on it. :-)

We are off to Chicago this weekend to meet 2 more of our great couples. Julie and Mathias who's wedding is in October and Bryan and Sandie's who's is in November. Should be a fun weekend, both are having their engagment sessions done this weekend. We plan on going all over Chicago and hitting up the very best part for pictures.

Here are a couple of pictures from when I was in Chicago a month ago.. ENJOY!!!

Check back for pics of our two great couples after this weekend.

New Toy

The countdown continues to our first wedding of the season this Saturday. We are really looking forward to it and to celebrate we have a new weapon in our photography arsenal. A macro lens, for those of you that don't know what a macro lens is, have you ever seen a picture of a bug and it's eyes are huge, that would be a macro lens. Another way to put it is a lens that gets awesome super close up pictures. For an example check out the video on your homepage http://www.ydywphotography.com/. It's always fun getting a new toy to bad they are so expensive..lol but well worth every penny. The close up pictures we can take with this are going to blow the bride and groom away and I can't wait to play with it more. Be on the look out for some wedding pictures on Sunday to appear. Hopefully it doesn't rain.

Amish Hunting

Even though we have a wedding coming up in 2 weeks and should of been preparing and making sure we were ready we decided to go what I call "Amish Hunting". For those of you not familiar with Norther Indiana we have several areas that are packed with Amish. I have always had a fascination with the Amish Community and have therefore always loved going out Amish Hunting, hoping to get that one great picture of someone out in a field working with the old farm machinery that hasn't been used in over hundred years. Well we got sort of lucky today and came across a young Amish man hitching his horses up to a manure spreader, yeah nothing fancy or exciting but it was for me. If you have never been Amish Hunting I highly recommend it sometime.

Countdown Begins

The countdown begins to our first, of many we hope, weddings of the season. May 17th is the big day for Sean Everett and Erin Carnes. A smidgen worried as we checked the weather and it looks like the odds are in our favor for RAIN that day and it's an outdoor wedding. Hopefully Mother Nature holds it off for our late afternoon wedding. I am sure the couple is very excited and looking forward to their big day. Attached is a one of their engagement pictures that we took last summer down at the Japanese Garden here in South Bend. 16 days and counting..........
